Item SUEDE-DIY is one sheet of premium suede of size 8.5 in x 12 in (21.6 cm x 30.5 cm) with a thickness of 3/64 inch (1.2 mm). The sheet has a backing of 3M industrial-strength double-sided adhesive, the strongest double-sided adhesive available. SUEDE-DIY is a cost-effective way to make your own suede soles. To get started, you trace the outside of your shoe's sole on the adhesive side of the suede sheet with a marker and then cut it out yourself. You can thus design the most efficient use of the material and you keep the scraps.
After cutting your soles to size, you only have to peel off the protective liner of the adhesive backing and stick your new soles on. While you can buy sheets of suede at crafts stores, those suede sheets require you to glue the soles on
-- a messy and tricky procedure. You also have to buy that glue and learn how to apply it properly. None of that is necessary with our SUEDE-DIY sheets with industrial-strength adhesive backing. SUEDE-DIY sheets thus saves you the most difficult aspect of self-fitting suede soles to shoes. SUEDE-DIY sheets can be cut with good household scissors.
Dancers prefer suede soles because suede has ideal friction properties for dancing on well-maintained and clean wood dance floors. However, for dancing on any other type of floor, we recommend our other Soles2dance products (see Product Selector at our web site). If you do intend to dance on well-maintained, clean wood dance floors, then this product is right for you.

Limitations
This product works very well for replacing the main sole of either flat or high-heeled shoes as those soles present a relatively large area for the adhesive to adhere to. The product also works well for covering the heel of a flat shoe, e.g., sneakers or men's dance shoes. However, the product is not meant to cover the heel tip of high-heeled ladies' shoes, because high heels typically have narrow bottoms, which present only a small surface area for the adhesive of the suede sheet. As a simple rule of thumb: In order for the adhesive backing of the suede sheet to stay on securely, there should be a contact area that is at least equivalent to the area of a 2-inch diameter circle. If you want to cover a high, narrow heel, consider buying a piece of our very cheap SUEDE-SCRAP together with our Superglue Gel, SUGLU. Superglue is much stronger than even the industrial-strength 3M 300LSE double-sided adhesive used as the backing for our suede sheets and suede soles.
